El Dorado Hills is recognized nationally for its high median household income, ranking 77th in CNN Money Magazine’s best places to live in 2007. El Dorado Hills gives you a small town feel but with plenty of things to do. You can be at Folsom Lake in about five minutes from just about anywhere in El Dorado Hills. This lake is the most popular lake in Northern California. On this lake, you can enjoy any water sport that comes to your mind. It is a great place for boating, kayaking, waterskiing, fishing or paddle boarding. If you are not enthusiastic about water sports, you can relax on the beach and catch some sun. It is also a beautiful place to enjoy overnight camping or a day trip with your family. There are over 26 miles of trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding. You will find over 70 community parks and athletic fields.
 
One of the reasons why lots of young families with kids decide to move to El Dorado Hills are excellent schools in the area. Schools in this district are highly rated and they will provide your kids with amazing education from elementary to high school. There are three districts in El Dorado Hills – Buckeye Union, Rescue Union and El Dorado Unified High. They all have exceptional API scores. It is also a very safe city and that is what makes it ideal for families.
 
During the summer the El Dorado Hills Town Center hosts free Thursday night concerts featuring a variety of bands. There are different types of music, so there is something for everyone, whether you like pop, blues, country… If you love outdoor shopping and dining, check out El Dorado Hills Town Center. You will find great shops and even better food here. If you don’t try food in one of the El Dorado Hills various restaurants, you are missing out. El Dorado Hills has a lot of breweries where you can enjoy different beers from different parts of the world. Most of them are dog friendly, so you can bring your four-legged best friend with you.
 
Highway 50 is the major east–west highway running through El Dorado Hills. The portion of EDH north of Highway 50 is mainly residential. The portion south of Highway 50 includes the 885-acre El Dorado Hills Business Park and the Town Center Commercial area, as well as additional housing.
